Express Auto Service & Repair

With the economy fluctuating all over the board, a lot of drivers are wanting to keep their current vehicle for as long as possible. But you also don’t want to be putting a lot of money out for urgent repairs. The key is to know what car maintenance needs to be done and when! The first place to look is your owner’s manual. The manufacturer of your vehicle knows what kind of vehicle maintenance is important to keep your car running strong.

So what car maintenance needs to be done? There are several vehicle maintenance items that you can do for your car on a daily or weekly basis, such as:

Each day, before leaving your driveway...

Walk around your car to make sure everything looks okay before leaving your driveway. Look for dents or dings in the paint or bodywork, the condition of the tires, including air pressure, tread wear, cuts in the rubber, chips or cracks in the windows, or puddles under the car. Even though these issues may seem pretty minor, any of them could turn into serious problems and be the cause of an accident!

Each week take a little closer look at your vehicle…

  • Check tire pressures, tread depth, and general condition of all four tires, plus the spare.
  • Check fluid levels, including the oil, coolant/antifreeze, brakes, windshield washer, power steering, and more.
  • Make sure all the lights are working, including blinkers and brake lights. Replace burned-out or broken bulbs as soon as possible, and make sure lenses are clean.
  • Inspect your windshield wiper blades and replace them if they are more than six months old.
  • Inspect the bodywork for any serious damage that may cause a driving hazard, such as dents in the fenders or smashed tail lights.
  • Check mirrors and windows for cracks or chips.
  • Wash your vehicle, inside and out, plus wax, to help protect the finish and repel water and dirt.

Remember: The vehicle maintenance tips above can save you time and money on emergency repairs. You will gain peace of mind when you head down the road, knowing you have reliable transportation!
